Role: Creative Director name: mashael aamer
Week 1
In the first week we have our first meeting with the Project Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” he introduces the project for us and it is about Higher Colleges of Technology 25th anniversary and we should create an ingenious short video. Then he told us about the different roles of film crew and we have to write a small descriptions and key responsibilities for each roll after that select one of them. I choose Creative Director, also known as the Production Designer, the Production Designer is responsible for creating the physical, visual appearance of the film - settings, costumes, character makeup, all taken as a unit. The Production Designer works closely with the Director and the Cinematographer to achieve the look of the film. In addition every student posts her role and descriptions in Media Project Roles google.doc and from that we know the teams.
My teams is pre-production and we have the first responsibility to find the idea of the video and we do our first meeting in Monday at 11:36 pm 12th February 2013.I have discuss with our team , producers and some student from other teams we write several ideas . Then I have summarize the idea to plan A and create a plan B to have several thing to choose. But we don’t choose the best idea yet because the next week we will have a meeting with whole group and after we discuss these two ideas with them we will decide the best. I feel very comfortable about this project and I think we will do a creative video.
Tasks
The main task that I did this week is a research about famous Creative Director to be more familiar about this role and know exactly what Creative Director responsibilities each student must to present a famous person who does her role and I choose George Lois the advertising’s most famous art director.

We arranged one meeting this week and I was the leader this week and I write the agenda and send it to my team’s member and the producers. Then I meet with them and my small team this week to introduce the two ideas and we will confirm the final idea with the whole student.

week 2 (blog entry)
In this week we do 3 meeting with our group, and we have to work hard to fine the best idea to our video. We try to do our work in short time to give other teams enough time to do their jobs. We developed our ideas to make everyone convinced and we discussed the final ideas. We will try to finish the script and storyboard as soon as we can, because other teams waiting to shooting.

I didn't have the time to present about the famous person how do the same roll so I do it in this week after that we have a small meeting with Project Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” and my team members and the producers. Then in Monday we do a presentation for the whole class members to present the two ideas for them and choose the best idea and have all teams’ opinion about the idea to develop it also to see if there is any other sagest.

After that we have a meeting with our team and the producers. The leader was Illustrator: Aaesha Salem in this meeting we discuss about We decided that we must do other meeting with all teams, because when we decide any idea we must see other teams’ opinions for this idea. Some members of team suggested that we show the logos of all colleges in the world, and then we select the logo of HCT in the UAE, but we are waiting approve from other whole team. And about the footage of other campus It will be fast scenes. We suggested two ideas during this meeting for the first scene, first one is about two girls setting together and talking, after that zooming and showing the college logo. The second idea is the book opening very fast showing the colleges in UAE and stop On RKWC with a spot of light. Suddenly, the book falls in the floor and opens directly. The place will be dark except this book. Spot of light on the book. (Brown and old book) In addition, on the cover page of the book, there is the logo of HCT. After that, the book opening and we will see the footage of other campus and this footage will be very fast. We suggest to end the video with students (male and female) will take a shape of 25. It will be in our campus and we suggested that only we want two colours, black for female and white for male. The end of the video is closing the book and the title appears. About the title of the video (The sense of creativity- waiting approves). We chose five words for different majors. (Innovation-Engineering, Communication- Media, Developing- Teaching, Technology- IT, Skills- Business) Then we chose the people that we will do interview with them. Graduates: Waleed Al Shehhi. HCT executives: Students councils, Ali Al Mansori, Dr. Robert,Dr. Tayeb Al Kmalie. We said that we need 40 to 50 students (both male and female) on our video. And about the Logo- Poster- brochure we are using the official logo that win the competition last year- arranged by producer. We suggest that we need other meeting with all teams. This meeting was on Wednesday-20th February 2013- 10:30
After this we have a meeting with all teams to decide which is the final order of the scene and we decided that we will beginning our video with fade in to the UAE map scenes, then every city that have HCT college will appear after that will focus to the Rakwc. Then show two girls talking together, after that zooming and showing the college logo. Then will be some scenes from the campus after that the interview with Dr.Tayeb, show some students from different majors do something related to their major(also show some scenes for the student hold something relate to their major like a camera for the media student or book and calculator for the business student …. And that will be on Special effect). The end of the video will be on The students take a 25 shape.

week 3 (blog entry)
In this week we do a meeting with our Project Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” and we discuss about the final idea and plan of what we have to done this week. Also we select the time of meeting with all teams to show Project Supervisor the smart goals our group will be the last because we have to do other thing so they give as more time to finish it.

Do meeting with my group to discuss about our work and what everyone do. Then Write with my group team planner. Also write a smart goal plan . As well as keep in touch with Production Team. Finally meeting with all teams to show the storyboard.

First meeting Sunday with supervisor to give us more information about smart goal then he gave as the time of meeting for each group to discuss the smart goals and explained to the Illustrator how the storyboard will be.
Second meeting Tuesday with producer’s team. in this meeting the producer gave us information about social marketing and some members in the teams chose one list of the social marketing such as make a logo, poster, open account in the twitter or instagram, invitation card, etc. For me, our grope couldn't take any of this social marketing because we were so busy on this week.
Third meeting Wednesday with my team. Mahra was leader and in this meeting we discuss about our work and .write the group team planner. Moreover, we talk about the final touches’ on the storyboard and see if the illustrator needs any help. Aaesha have finished the storyboard and it is done. Then we discuss about list of talent and we need two girls for the first scene, the first one from the college (khulood Alzaabi) and the second one from primary school (bashayer Abdulla). In addition, we have a scene that we need students to represent the five majors which is Education, Engineering, Business, IT, Media. We need girls to represent Education, Business and Media, and we need men’s to represent Engineering and Business. Actually, the girls still don’t know how many people we need for this scene, but maximum one or two for each major. In addition, in the last scene we need people to shapes number (25) for the 25th anniversary logo. Actually, we have a problem for the place and people who will participate in the video. The girls want the men to shape number (2), and girls for number (5). We talk with the student service but they disagree. It seems that they have a problem to include men in the video, so our B plan will be to replace girls instead of men. Maybe if we ask for a help from Mister Barry or Mister Wayne, we can solve these problems. After that, we discuss about the talent permissions for the actors. Casting Director: Mahra Humaid asks for the permissions for the actors from the student service, but they told me it is not necessary. So, she asks Mister Gregory for the permissions because he knows these things.
Last meeting Thursday it was at the end of the week we have a meeting with the project supervisor and it was with all members. In this meeting, we change some ideas and make some changes in the storyboard. Moreover, they are discussed about the permission and location for shooting. week 4 (blog entry)
This week I have do 3 meeting one with our group and two with our Project Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” .One of them about our smart goals and the second one about what every group do during the week. Group meeting was to know how everything work and what we have to do.
tasks

_ Check the script and see if we have to change something or not.
_ Make sure that all actors are attend on time and if they need more people to be on video?
_Ask the producers about other groups, how they do and if they need any helps.
Then we decide that the Illustrator “Aaesha Salem” should contact with the film editor “Aaesha Abdulrahim” to match the storyboard with the final view of the video. In addition, we write the science that should be on the storyboard. Interview with ‘Dr. “Tayeb Al Kamali” (remove this scene) and Change the end of video from people to equipment that relate to HCT majors. Then the Screen Writer “Shaikha Khamis” said she finished the script and she sends it to the director “Fatema Abdulla” and she agrees with her about everything. And The Production team done the scene that have an actor and they did not need any more people to act. As well as about others team the post-Production tame chooses the sound that will be on the video and they make the first scene, which is the map of UAE. Besides the others tame done the majority of scene shooting, and the last scene remains.

In the first meeting the Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” have discussed with us about our smart goal which contained our role, and he ask us some question about our role and the reason of choosing it and how did it effect on us, also what the difficult thing on this work. In this meeting our groups attend except Casting Director, in addition to Producers, Special effect designer and make-up artist.
The next meeting was arranged by me with our team and the producers to check the following things: Check the updates of the story board, check the script if there are any changes, check casting director's work and Check other groups work with the producers to see if they need help. Finally, we knew that the story board will still updates and the illustrator may need a help to finish it on time. Also there have been no changes on the script, and the Casting director didn't face any problems with the talents that we have used in the movie. Also the other groups are doing a great job in the movie.
The last meeting with the Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” and all groups to discussed what every group do and if we have to change thing and we have discussed about the 25 shape and they decide that we will shoot this scene in the next week to have more equipment to put on the shape

week 5
In the beginning of this week I attend the shooting of last scene. In addition all teams member was attend on this location which is in reception area with different materials that have four colors red, green, white and black based on the majors to create the twenty-five shape. It was on Sunday. Also, in this week the post production asked to re-shoot the first scene because the sound was not matching the video. So they decide to re-shoot the first scene and I was attending on the location with other team members to shoot the first scene it was on Thursday.
On this work everyone do something to help the shooting be good and it was a good feel to see that everyone helps. And I feel more comfortable, because most of the work was done and it remains only the editing. |

On Monday, we had a meeting with our Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” he Check how everything is going with the teams. And we found a solution for the first shoot to re-shoot it on Thursday. Then he show as video about old film “Jaws” it was an example of making of that we should found like it about our role. And he asks all the team to write the main task for each one in group and the leader of this week should sent to him by E-mail.
On Wednesday 13 March 2013 1:00. The Illustrator (Aaesha Salem) gave a summary about her meeting with Post Production team and she said that the editor wanted a soft copy from a storyboard. Moreover, she discussed with her team about the final view of the film. Then she showed the sketches to my team and they like it, and the producer talked about the angles of the shot. She said that will be one angle and the editor can play it in the final cut. After that, we discussed about the storyboard and I will do some updates in the storyboard like add some interviews and remove the interview of Tayeb El Kamaly. In addition, we discussed about our plan for this week and next week:
Ø Aaesha Salem: update the storyboard.
Ø Shaikha: update the script and add new scene.
Ø Mashael: start working on making of section.
Ø Mahra: bring the talents for re shooting.
And all of us we are preparing to final presentation of the film and everything is fine, but the producer suggested that we do meeting with: Post Production team.

And about ‘Making of’ that we should do it by the end of week 6 make when the deadline for final edit will be finally the Preparation for week 8 presentations (guidelines to follow) and because of the work placement that we had on week 8 the Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” sad he will checked with Mister Wayne).

week 6
This is the last week and I already finish all of my works last and as we Pre-Production Team, we have finished most of our works in the previous weeks. So in this week I was attending meetings with the project Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” and with my team.Production, Post-Production and Props team held a pitch meeting. Also I finish the making of about my role. Moreover, we have seen the trailer of the film that we made and we really feel so exciting to see the whole film also we have seen the final edit poster and it was nice.

In this week I have finished the making of. At first, I found some difficulties to choose appropriate video because most of the videos were about general interviews and I won’t something related to films. But after that, we ask our Supervisor ‘Barry Lowe” and he helps as and gave as an example. So that helps as a lot. Really, I felt that I have learned many new things this project and how I do the best in my work in the next time.

This week I have only three meetings. Two with the project supervisor and the other with my team. First meeting with the project supervisor was on Sunday 17/3/2013 and we were discussed about the pitch presentation for the other teams, making of and add it to the webpage in the Weebly, final edit of the 25th Anniversary for the film and how we can prepare for the final presentation. Also we have a small meeting with Production, Post-Production and Props team) held a pitch meeting and each member of the team talked about her role, what did they learned and how was the process going on.Others, meeting with my team on Wednesday 20/3/2013, Casting Director: Mahra Humaid as the chair and she asked us about our roles during week 6 and next week plus we discussed about the making of task and certainly she asked Illustrator: Aaesha Salem about the final draft of the storyboard and she told her that she has put the final draft in her webpage. Last meeting was at the end of the week, Thursday 21/3/2013 and during this meeting he gave us more details about the final presentation and discussed about the making of task.

Write three things you learned about making movies from listening to the movie and crew and cast:
1. Get away from computer and be outside. To create something special than others.
2. Do a sketchbook to basically document the entire production design process.
3. Try to plan everything in intricate detail, to get everything good.
Say why you picked these three important things:
I choose this three important points because I think this role depend on this thing to have a good idea we should think different than others. In addition, I think when we start to think without use computer that will allow us to be more creative. Then, when we have good idea we can put them on sketchbook to show the basically production design process. After that we should plan everything in intricate detail to give the crow a clear idea also to be organized. After that we start to transform our ideas to the computer and develop them.
Finally say whether or not you would like to do this job full time in future why /why not?

He or she creates a series of storyboards that serve as the film’s first draft. A storyboard is a series of sketches, paintings or watercolors arranged on panels to show the visual progression of the story from one scene to the next. The production designer determines the palette of colors to be used and often provides important suggestions about the composition of individual shots. Creating this sketch of the film on storyboards also ensures the visual continuity of the film from start to finish. Storyboards serve as the director’s visual guide throughout the production.
So In future I would like to do this job because I like this work and I enjoy when I do anything related to this thing especially to create a creative idea and develop it.
