week by week - proposed schedule:
Week 1 (blog entry)
A good start to the project with almost 100% attendance at the first meeting. It was good to see some familiar faces and I am confident this group will produce a strong and creative project. I am trying to leave most of the major creative decisions up to the team - I will wait and see how ambitious they want to be!
The main point is that whatever we create, it needs to be of a high standard so that it can be shown publicly during the week 7 celebrations for the 25th anniversary of HCT.
If possible, we will produce a promotional video which could be shown at HCT events and conferences.
The issue of assessments for this course was discussed - I have made it clear that independent study - deciding which tasks need to be done, meeting regularly to get things done on time, documenting the whole process - these are all key to grading. Ultimately, grades will be decided on how much individual students take the initiative to participate and to provide evidence of what they have done.

Tasks
Main task for week 1: Introduce the course and ask the team to start thinking of ideas. Get students organized into teams and to take an individual role (make a google doc for this purpose). Ask small teams to meet before Thursday and to keep an agenda and minutes / action points of this meeting. Hold a Team Meeting on Thursday to discuss the 'pitch' and prepare the creative team to hold a meeting in week 2.

week 2 (blog entry)
The week started very positively with a full team meeting to hear the pitch from our pre-production team. Many team members contributed ideas at the meeting and we left with a clearer idea about what the project will be. Here is a copy of the email summary I sent out after that meeting:
Dear All,
Summary of the main ideas agreed in the meeting:
The project will be…
2 versions: 1) 3 minutes 2) 30-40 seconds
Shot in RAK but include footage of other campuses where possible
Include some lines / interviews / quotes from HCT executives and graduate students
Use volunteer actor students from RKW and RKM
Include images of different HCT programs
Show the new RAK RKW campus
Include some text - focus on keywords from the HCT campus classrooms
Include a new, original soundtrack / music if possible
Possibly include a 'newspaper' theme - showing some key events from HCT history
What to do next:
Team meeting (week 2) - meet with your team to discuss the idea and make a team planner. (see the example in edmodo). This planner should be a summary of the main tasks your team will complete from week 2 to week 6.
Assessment Meeting (week 3) - (Plan / Proposal / Roles meeting) prepare for your assessed team meeting (see the rubric for assessment 01). In this meeting, you will have to discuss your individual role, show me your individual planner for each week and bring me your SMART plan / goals.
Webpage update - continue to update your weekly page - this is being assessed every week. (If you still have problems with weekly, we will fix them on Thursday!)
See you all on Thursday at 11am (Mac Lab)
Regards,
Barry
The main issue this week has been the problems with getting students to access and edit weebly pages - we are working on a solution!

tasks
All Teams were asked to meet this week and discuss their team Planner. Every team must provide a summary of their man tasks for the next 6 weeks. We meet on Thursday 21st Feb to discuss the planners.
Teams will also need to prepare for their assessed team meetings in week 3 (I will meet each team and individual team members must prepare a SMART goal and be prepared to discuss their role).
Also assessed will be the 'proposals' for each team - this will be based on the Team Planner and Team meetings (TBC)

movie of the week:
Now we have a clear idea of what the project is - we will be moving towards production. Before filming begins, however, we need to prepare a completed storyboard of the movie. Here is one great explanation of what a storyboard is.
week 3 (blog entry)
The Final week of pre-production / planning before shooting begins! I'm not sure 100% if we are ready to start shooting, but I guess this is quite normal - probably if we waited until everyone felt ready, we would never actually film anything! This week has shown very clearly that plans need to change often. One of the main changes we have had to make this week is to the ending: The movie ending will not show male and female students coming together to make '25' - it proved too problematic to get permissions required for this.
However, we have replaced this idea with another which should work well. The team all seem enthusiastic and ready to contribute more ideas if needed. We even have students talking about coming to college early in the morning and at the weekend to get the work done! Let's see how that goes.

tasks
I have held 2 team meeting this week - and we have started the assessment of SMART plans.
I need to keep emphasizing the importance of assessment for this project - it's easy to forget that we are following a criteria!
The main task we need to complete at this stage is to get the Shooting Script finalized. This will be our working document for the next 2-3 weeks.
We also are working on social networking / marketing - we should have necessary links up on the site very soon.

week 4 (blog entry)
This week saw a full week of shooting - it was great to finally see some on-hands action with the cameras. Our production team have done a great job filming a variety of different scenes including:
I plan to meet teams next week and give a 'half-term' report based on how mush they have done, the initiative they are showing, and the general levels of participation and attendance. It has been hard for some students to realize that, because they are largely free to arrange their own schedule of work and attendance / participation levels, it is easy to 'do less' - however, the project supervisor sees all!
- Interview with Dr Robert Moulton
- Opening scene and dialog
- RKM engineering labs
- RKW programs (including IT / Media etc)

tasks
Additional audio recording is being arranged by our sound team. Some of our editing team and producers have been working on the promotion of the project (by poster designs and online social networking).
All SMART plan meetings have now been completed.
Team meetings were held at the start and end of the week

What happened this week / how things are going / how do I feel about the project and my role this week ...
shock of the week ! most students don't know stephen spielberg! the 'biggest' director in hollywood
tasks

Making of... task
Each team member was given an assessment task to complete by the end of week 6. Everyone needs to choose a 'Making Of' documentary (from any film they like) and to write a reaction to it. They'll need to write a plot summary, and learn something by listening carefully to real, experienced film makers - hopefully doing roles that the students themselves are doing in this project.
